Flipkart Retail API Integration with Zoho Books on Zoho Catalyst | Case Study

Suppliers selling to large marketplaces receive purchase orders around the clock. When every Flipkart PO is copied into the accounting system by hand, orders are delayed, items and taxes get mismatched, and nobody can say which items actually make money.

This case study shows how Codearbro is building an end-to-end Flipkart Retail API integration with Zoho Books on Zoho Catalyst for a fresh produce supplier in West Bengal — a long-term client we had already supported with a phased Zoho implementation covering discovery, warehouse operations and order fulfilment.

Project Snapshot

IndustryFresh produce / vegetable supply to marketplaces
LocationWest Bengal, India
PlatformFlipkart Retail API, Zoho Catalyst, Zoho Books, Zoho Analytics
Effort104 hours integration + 40 hours item-level P&L add-on
EnvironmentsUAT (Pre-Prod) and Production

The Challenge

  • Flipkart purchase orders had to be keyed into Zoho Books manually
  • Risk of duplicate orders when the same PO notification arrived more than once
  • Customer, item and tax mapping between Flipkart and Books was inconsistent
  • No automatic acknowledgement back to Flipkart once an order was recorded
  • Management could not see profit and margin at the item level

Our Solution

1. Secure Integration Architecture on Zoho Catalyst

  • Integration hosted on Zoho Catalyst with separate UAT and Production environments
  • HTTPS/JSON webhook endpoints that reply with a 2xx response within 30 seconds, as Flipkart requires
  • OAuth2 client-credentials flow with secure credential storage and automatic token refresh
  • IP allowlisting and support for Flipkart egress validation

2. PO to Sales Order Automation

  • Notification routing with payload and mandatory-field validation
  • PO_CREATE → Zoho Books Sales Order, with customer, item and tax lookups
  • PO_ACK sent back to Flipkart after successful ingestion
  • Duplicate detection and idempotent processing, so the same PO never creates two orders
  • Error handling, retries and full audit logging

3. Item-Level Profit & Loss in Zoho Analytics

As an add-on, we are building item-level P&L reporting: Zoho Books data syncs into Zoho Analytics, an item cost model maps purchase or average cost to each sold item, and a dashboard shows revenue, COGS, discounts, returns and margin by date, item and PO/VSID — reconciled against the Zoho Books P&L.

4. Careful Go-Live

Pre-Prod and Production UAT with reconciliation and defect fixes, followed by a pilot on 1–3 VSIDs with 3 days of monitoring before full rollout.

Expected Business Impact

  • Flipkart orders reach Zoho Books automatically, with no re-typing
  • No duplicate sales orders, thanks to idempotent processing
  • Faster acknowledgement to Flipkart
  • Clear item-level margins to guide pricing and sourcing
  • A secure, monitored integration with full audit history

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Flipkart orders sync automatically to Zoho Books?

Yes. Using the Flipkart Retail API and webhooks, purchase orders can be validated and created as Sales Orders in Zoho Books automatically, with an acknowledgement sent back to Flipkart.

Why use Zoho Catalyst for marketplace integrations?

Zoho Catalyst is Zoho’s serverless platform. It hosts secure webhook endpoints, handles OAuth tokens and scales with order volume, while staying close to Zoho Books and Analytics.

Can I see profit per item in Zoho Books?

Zoho Books shows company-level P&L. For item-level margins, we sync Books data into Zoho Analytics and apply an item cost model to calculate profit for each product.
